A firewood buyer asks what a bag of logs costs, whether the delivery fee is shown before ordering, how quickly the wood arrives and whether the order can be cancelled. These decide 50 points out of 100.
Score shows how the company does on our comparison criteria, on a 0–100 scale. Rankings cannot be bought.

We scored 6 firewood online shops on 23 metrics. The key question for the buyer: are the price, delivery costs, delivery area and dryness of the wood shown on the site before ordering, or do the costs and terms only become clear after making contact?
A firewood online shop delivers split firewood and logs to your home or cottage by home delivery. The product is similar everywhere, dry birch firewood or mixed firewood, so the main difference between shops is not the wood itself but how openly the price, delivery costs, delivery area and dryness of the wood are shown on the site before ordering. When the total cost is revealed in advance, the orderer can compare shops without making contact.
Price of firewood (loose cubic metre, bulk-tipped cubic metre or bag) publicly shown before ordering (22), delivery costs or delivery price shown on the site (price list, zone or calculator) before ordering (14), delivery area or delivery localities stated (12), wood moisture or dryness guarantee stated (moisture percentage or a clear dryness promise) (12), product range described (wood species, length, pack sizes) (9), an actual online shop order (shopping cart and online payment), not just a contact form (9), origin of the wood stated (domestic origin, region or certification) (6), delivery time stated (working days or weeks) (6), contact details shown (phone or e-mail) (4), business ID (Y-tunnus) shown on the site (6)
Transparency is 30% of the basic metrics, i.e. 15% of the total points · these metrics make up its 100 points · the full formula and the other pillars
How to read the comparison correctly: Half of the points come from buyer's questions, i.e. things the buyer finds out before deciding. The other half measures how openly the company publishes its prices, terms and contact details. Clear differences in points indicate a genuine difference: one tells you the price immediately, another only after logging in. Close scores should not be read as a ranking order, because every measurement has a margin of variation. The measurement accuracy and the full calculation formula are open in the methodology.
Customer experience is brought into the assessment separately. We also collect customer feedback and customer experiences about companies through separate surveys. The survey results will be added to the overall assessment later.
Who is on the list? Included are firewood online shops that deliver split logs and firewood to your home or cottage with home delivery. Some deliver nationwide (Klapimaatti, Veljekset Parkkonen), others focus on one region (Korpiklapi South Ostrobothnia, Klapitkotiin Southwest Finland, Puuklapit Pirkanmaa and the capital region).
What determines the ranking? The comparison is based on transparency: is the price of firewood per loose cubic metre or per bag shown, are delivery costs and the delivery area visible, is the wood's moisture content or a dryness guarantee stated, and can the order be placed and paid for online. What raises the ranking is not the cheapest price but how openly the total cost becomes clear before ordering.
Why does moisture matter? Dry firewood burns more efficiently and produces more heat. Some shops state the moisture percentage (for example under 20 per cent), some promise a dryness guarantee without a number. Both tell the buyer more than a mere mention of dry wood.
Every company is measured with the same public formula: half of the points come from buyer's questions and half from basic metrics, which have four pillars: technical quality, transparency, reachability and AI quality score. Ranking cannot be bought, and you can see the origin of each point on the company's profile. Read the full methodology →
A loose cubic metre (i-m3) is a loosely stacked cubic metre of firewood. A thrown cubic metre is a more loosely piled cubic metre, stacked by throwing, with more air in it. A solid cubic metre is solid wood. The same amount in euros in a different unit means a different amount of wood, so always compare prices in the same unit.
Dry firewood burns more efficiently, produces less smoke and gives more heat. Ready-to-use firewood typically has a moisture content below 20 per cent. Damp wood uses energy to evaporate water and heats poorly.
Not always. Some online shops deliver nationwide, others only within their own region. The best shops show the delivery area and delivery cost on the site, so check the area before ordering.
Most shops on the list have an actual online shop where ordering and payment are handled online. Some operate with a contact form, in which case the price and delivery are agreed separately.
