About this comparison

We scored 6 electrical installation and electrical contracting firms operating in Finland on 20 metrics: technical quality, transparency, reachability and data quality. The most important question: do you get the hourly rate, warranty terms, Tukes qualification and the share of the household deduction before you give your contact details?

When choosing an electrical contractor, the consumer's biggest question is price: what does an electrician's hour cost and what will be added to the invoice on top of the hourly charge. Some firms openly publish the hourly rate, travel costs and minimum charge, whereas some give a price only after an assessment visit or a quote. This comparison rewards those who clearly state the hourly rate, Tukes qualification, work warranty and the share of the household deduction before you leave your contact details.

What transparency means in this category

Hourly rate or price list shown publicly (25), Tukes registration and electrical qualification stated (15), share of household deduction explained (15), work or installation warranty stated (15), free survey, estimate visit or price estimate (10), on-call service and response time stated (10), business ID (Y-tunnus) and service area displayed (10)

Transparency is 30% of the total points · these metrics make up its 100 points · the full formula and the other pillars

How to read the comparison correctly: Score measures how openly a company publishes its prices, terms and contact details, not what kind of service it gives its customers. Clear differences in points indicate a genuine difference: one states the price immediately, another only after logging in. Close scores should not be read as a ranking order, because every measurement has a margin of variation. The measurement accuracy and the entire calculation formula have been laid open in the methodology.

Customer experience is brought into the assessment separately. We also collect customer feedback and customer experiences about the companies through separate surveys. The results will be added later to the overall assessment, so that the Score tells not only about transparency but also about how customers experience the company's service.

The hourly rate for electrical work in the Helsinki metropolitan area is typically 55-90 euros per hour, but few businesses state the price online. Some operators publicly state their hourly rate, travel costs and minimum invoicing, giving you an indicative idea of the cost before making contact. From these pages you can see whose price list is open and whose price is only revealed in a quotation.

The Tukes electrical contractor register and electrical qualification (S1, S2 or S3) determine whose electrical work is permitted by law. Only a registered contractor may carry out fixed electrical installations. The household deduction, in turn, is available only for work done by a company that is in the prepayment register. The scoring rewards businesses that state their qualifications and the household deduction share clearly.

Expert tips

Frequently asked questions

How much does an electrician charge per hour?

At the businesses in the comparison, the hourly rate is about 56-75 euros per hour including VAT. A service vehicle or call-out charge and a mileage allowance are usually added on top, and the minimum billing is 1-2 hours. Some businesses state the price openly online, others only in a quote.

Why does an electrical contractor have to be in the Tukes register?

By law, fixed electrical installations may only be carried out by an operator entered in Tukes's register of electrical contractors who holds electrical qualification S1, S2 or S3. Registration ensures that the work is done by a qualified professional and that the installation is safe and insurable.

Can you get a household deduction for electrical work?

Yes, electrical installation at home or at a holiday home is work eligible for the household deduction. The deduction applies only to the labour share, not to materials or supplies, and is available only for work done by a business that is in the prepayment register. Check the current deduction percentage and maximum amount at vero.fi.

What comes on the bill in addition to the hourly rate?

On top of the hourly charge, a service van or call-out charge, mileage reimbursement from the branch to the work site and possible small-supplies surcharges are usually billed. Installation materials are charged separately. Many firms count working time from a started hour, and the minimum billing is 1-2 hours.
