We scored 6 dog grooming salons on 21 metrics. The most important question: is the grooming price shown online in euros by breed or size, or is it only revealed by phoning or at booking?
Dog grooming is regular coat care whose price depends on the breed, the size of the dog and the condition of the coat. Some grooming salons publish prices directly online by breed or size, others only show them at booking or ask you to call. We compared six incorporated dog grooming salons by how openly each discloses prices, services, booking and cancellation terms before contact. We do not measure which salon is closest to you, but how transparently the service is described.

How to read the comparison correctly: Half of the points come from buyer's questions, i.e. things the buyer finds out before deciding. The other half measures how openly the company publishes its prices, terms and contact details. Clear differences in points indicate a genuine difference: one tells you the price immediately, another only after logging in. Close scores should not be read as a ranking order, because every measurement has a margin of variation. The measurement accuracy and the full calculation formula are open in the methodology.
Customer experience is brought into the assessment separately. We also collect customer feedback and customer experiences about companies through separate surveys. The survey results will be added to the overall assessment later.
Who is on the list? Grooming salons offering dog grooming and coat care services to consumers, which have a live site of their own and operate as companies. The selection covers different localities (Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere, Turku, Joensuu), because the sector is local small business. The comparison does not tell which salon is closest to you but how openly each discloses prices, services, booking and cancellation terms before contact. Dog boarding (day care and full-time care) is its own comparison: the grooming salon takes care of the coat, the boarding kennel looks after the dog.
Why only six? Several otherwise suitable dog grooming salons were left out because the business ID (Y-tunnus) shown on their site could not be verified from the trade register, they operate as sole traders without public company information or the domain had been hijacked for other use. We do not publish a company whose responsible entity cannot be confirmed. The business ID (Y-tunnus) of all six has been verified from the trade register.

Because the final price is affected by the dog's size, breed, coat condition and handleability, and by how long it has been since the previous grooming. The from-price indicates the starting level, and the exact price is specified when booking or on site.
Most often washing, drying, coat clipping or hand-stripping, nail clipping and ear cleaning. The content varies by grooming salon, so compare what the price includes, not just the euro amount.
A grooming salon takes care of a dog's coat, nails and wash in a single visit. A dog daycare or dog hotel looks after the dog during the day or overnight. These are different services and are compared separately.
