We scored 6 dog boarding kennels and dog hotels on 20 metrics. The key question: is the price of care per night and per day visible online, or is it only found out by calling?
Choosing a dog daycare or dog hotel is a matter of trust: the dog is left in an unfamiliar place for a day or a holiday, and the quality of care is decisive. We compared six consumer-oriented dog daycares by how openly each states prices, facilities, staff experience and health requirements online before you need to get in touch. The pool is weighted toward the Helsinki metropolitan area and southern Finland, because the sector is local small-business activity.
Treatment prices shown publicly (daily or per-day rate) (30), facilities and dog exercise described (15), staff training or experience stated (15), a place can be booked or availability asked online (10), vaccination and health requirements stated (10), business ID (Y-tunnus) shown (10), independent review source shown (10)
Transparency is 30% of the basic metrics, i.e. 15% of the total points · these metrics make up its 100 points · the full formula and the other pillars
How to read the comparison correctly: Half of the points come from buyer's questions, i.e. things the buyer finds out before deciding. The other half measures how openly the company publishes its prices, terms and contact details. Clear differences in points indicate a genuine difference: one tells you the price immediately, another only after logging in. Close scores should not be read as a ranking order, because every measurement has a margin of variation. The measurement accuracy and the full calculation formula are open in the methodology.
Customer experience is brought into the assessment separately. We also collect customer feedback and customer experiences about companies through separate surveys. The survey results will be added to the overall assessment later.
Who is on the list? Dog care centres and dog hotels offering day care and full board for dogs to consumers that have their own live website. The pool is weighted towards the capital region and southern Finland (Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo, Nurmijärvi, Porvoo, Lahti), because the sector is local small-business activity. The comparison does not tell which care centre is closest to you but how openly each states prices, facilities and care terms before contact.
Why only six? Two otherwise suitable treatment clinics were left out because the business ID (Y-tunnus) shown on their website could not be verified from the trade register. We do not publish a company whose responsible company cannot be confirmed.
Every company is measured with the same public formula: half of the points come from buyer's questions and half from basic metrics, which have four pillars: technical quality, transparency, reachability and AI quality score. Ranking cannot be bought, and you can see the origin of each point on the company's profile. Read the full methodology →
A hotel night costs about 40-95 euros in the comparison and day care about 25-55 euros. Weekends, public holidays and peak seasons raise the price at many boarding kennels, and there is often a discount for a family's second dog.
Most dog care facilities require valid vaccinations and a healthy, dewormed dog. Some also ask for an introductory visit and assess in advance the dog's suitability for group care.
A dog care facility offers supervised premises, staff and the company of other dogs. A home carer may suit a dog that does not do well in a group better. The comparison helps assess how openly each facility describes its operations.
